Disney is the answer

I live much of my life on my own with only a tiny dog for company …. from time to time I luxuriate in my husband’s company but sweet turns to bitter (not in a lemon sucking bitter way but in a sad, saline tears sort of way) when we say au revoir, à bientot as we did at 06:00 today, Clermont Ferrand gare ferroviaire.  My antedote is a good old slug of fairytale Disney chateau and my local one is Chateau du Val – the princess in me never died and a few Rapunzelling towers make me and my long hair feel so much better – particularly when the sun shines!

  1. A real fairy-tale chateau, how pretty. You’re never alone with a dog, even a tiny one. 🙂

    • It is lovely and only 10 minutes from here …. you wrote a lovely piece which started ‘never say never’ but I honestly think I could never be without my dog 🙂

  2. As someone rather serious and inflexible, it amazed me how much I enjoyed Disneyworld many years ago – I could forget my stuffiness for a day, and just go with the flow.

With my hairline, there’ll be nobody scaling my tresses to get into the castle, though!

Fiona, apart from the Bean, you have a world-wide community for company!

    • Michael, I would LOVE to see you at Disneyworld (somewhere I have never visited despite being a slave to Walt and always having said I would pick ‘The full length feature cartoon films of Walt Disney from Snow White – Mulan’ as my specialist subject on Mastermind) …. as for the World Wide Community – that is absolutely true and The Bean has a few followers of her own too!

      • I know it sounds a bit like name-dropping (moi?!!), but I confess I’ve been to Orlando Disneyworld twice and to the one in Tokyo! Never been to Eurodisney, though.

      • Shameless name-dropping …. something I myself know nothing of, of course! But how exciting – which was the best – Japonais ou Americain?

      • Difficult to say, as being in Japan was so exotic, and Sigi was only 5 (as opposed to about 10 in the USA), so we did different rides. The Japanese did the American-style food in quite a different way, which we approved of! I have to say, we loved both resorts.
We were disappointed by the Epcot Center – not intrinsically, but because the food outlets were so over-priced (and remarkably un-American with the portion size).

  3. Interesting and diplomatic response I see! I think I would probably prefer Japan (and I do intend to visit some time …. my father spent large chunks of time there in the late 70s probably amounting to 2 years in all but sadly we were never taken – we used to tease him that he was, in fact a spy because his voyages etranger were always rather covert and solitary) – Two Brains would certainly prefer the food and I might manage the rides though I am famously scared of even the tamest roller-coaster – for me a merry-go-round is exciting enough 🙂

    • Japan is quite fascinating – the mix of ancient and ultra-modern must be unique.
But, as for the rides, Isobel and I are both high-level wimps! In Disneyworld, Sigi had to go on most of the rides on his own, poor child! (Not that he seemed to mind too much!)

  4. Hallelujah … say it twice for wimpish parents … we shoud start a society! Mine had to do the same (even at Chessington World of Adventures let it be said) and they are the braver for it! Japan is fixed on my list – Two Brains loved it so I am confident I can persuade him back on day 🙂

    • What do you mean “even”?! Chessington is terrifying!!!!

Hope you get to Japan soon.

  5. At last! Someone that understands! I’ll let you know when I get to Japan 🙂
