The battle of the bulge

A conversation with the very lovely Susan who has a beautiful blog named ‘Our French Oasis’ has me thinking again about the very particular relationship of the French to food. So as I prepare to drive to England tomorrow I give you a reprise of a post I made about 18 months ago that had me battling the bulge. I could do with a re-read myself …..

  1. How I long to experience a different culture than here in the US. I’m afraid this country has fallen ill with the reckless abandon of everything in vast quantities, more and more of everything in the name of me first and the hell with waste. I so look forward to “Crossing The Pond” for a visit. Who knows, I might stay!

    • You will fit right in …. And you will also love the fact that people let you be you and don’t feel the need to pry and gossip.

      • It’s always nice when people give you”Space” and allow you to open up at your own pace. True respect between people is never given, it’s earned.

So nice that you could have a pleasant stop in Paris , and now I’m imagining The Bean all fancied up dining at the Ritz 😉

  4. So true about how the weight wears you out. I need to take a regime like yours as I cannot look good in anything at the moment. Sad, as we are off on hols tomorrow and it’s too late now! Well done though, that’s a real result x

    • Happy hols and I’ll send you info on what I did privately. It was 18’months ago and in the main I’ve kept it off!

      • I could quite happily write a book of cows …. I like be them. When I first moved to the area I thought they were Jerseys too – very jealous that you had one … They are beauteous! 🐂

      • I actually had 2, but one was much nicer than the other, and had the biggest udder ever, which made it hard to milk on a wet, muddy morning 🙂

  7. It is always interesting to hear of different countries and yet, as I am sure when you were with your Mom and sisters: there is no place like home. <3
