  1. Wow…What a problem to have to deal with! Luv Gary

    • Just one of many ….. 😉x

  2. I do so love your descriptive, and funny, prose. Don’t worry about the gun being a toy, my man has his own real one!

    December 16, 2017
    • Thank you …. it’s really good to have feedback like yours. As you know – when we write we often have no real concept of how it feels to read. I may need your man… I still harbour possibly illegal notions of disposing of the previous incumbent!! ! 😂

This is the scary post.. 😮
    One of my favorites 💛

    December 16, 2017
    • Thank you my friend… plenty more scares in store for those who stick with the story! 💛

  4. I could read these posts for ever. They are funny and familiar in equal measure.
I too have a (fake) gun or two around the place. And swords. And my grandson thought it was hilariously funny to leave a pair of toy handcuffs from his cowboy outfit on our bed frame. Even Trevor could not work out how to remove them for ages. Yes, yes it amused many visitors

    December 16, 2017
    • Handcuffs on the bedpost …. i LOVE your grandson! So pleased you are enjoying the re-run – I know how well you empathise. 😊Perhaps we should rebrand as Calamity Jane’s long list twin sisters 😨

      December 16, 2017
      • He’s ten by the way, just in case you ( and others) were speculating. And he won’t let me throw any of his old toys collected here in the last decade away. Not even the Oui-Oui books. So we have a small French Museum of Childhood going on here.

Les filles folles qui invitent la catastrophe dans leurs vies?

        December 16, 2017
      • Oh how the French LOVE a musée… I can see it being a local attraction down the line. He really sounds a card with a fabulous wicked streak that must not be suppressed 😊

        December 16, 2017
      • He’s a moody card at the moment.
He was very sweet until he started moody adolescent drama-queen stuff at about seven, maybe he’ll emerge around 13 when all his friends are just starting the Kevin & Perry syndrome?
Certainly a one-off , that boy; Trev thinks he may have an eidatic memory.

        December 16, 2017
      • If Trev is right that would account for the moods …. the memories will be almost unbearably vivid. And I rather think that would mean the Apple didn’t fall far from the Granny tree 🍎🌳… have you thought of Italia Conte or Anna Sher – he might well be a comfortable for and if he really is a ‘luvvie’ he might as well be among his thespian peers now x

        December 16, 2017
      • We thought of it, but he wasn’t interested last year. He did have a school trip away to a performance school thing this summer and did enjoy it.
I might illicitly send you the video of his school concert 2014 where he was trying to take off his snowman scarf and hat, which he found very irritating, whilst doing a very complicated dance choreographed, frankly, by a f*****g idiot.

I could see him on stage, he is in no way a “showoff” but can certainly wind his mother up with his rather Pre-Raphaelite poetish tendencies to hurl himself dramatically over the sofa crying ” someone tell me what is the POINT of this boring existence”
Think Algernon Charles Swinburne or similar.
. It doesn’t work on Nana.

        December 16, 2017
      • I would love to see that video! He does sound adorable though I sympathise with his mum … it’s easier being a step removed I think.

        December 17, 2017
      • PS … oui bien sûr …. c’est eux!!

        December 16, 2017
  5. I have discovered new wood eating insects here…inside the grandfather clock. Thank goodness we built the new house in concrete block….

    December 16, 2017
    • Nooooooo …. I have always thought Jesus was referring to insects when he declared ‘the meek shall inherit the earth’ …. this is further evidence that I am not entirely barking. Not entirely 😉

      December 16, 2017
      • Meek! This lot!

        December 16, 2017
      • I rather fancy a t-shirt with ‘MEEK’ blazoned on it … I wonder if anyone would get what I was implying 😀

        December 16, 2017
      • If Leo’s brother, half brother and sister were aware of the connotation, one look at him wearing that t-shirt and they would be off to their varied lawyers to see if they had any claim to the ineritance…

        December 16, 2017
      • You have me laughing as you always do and this weekend (for reasons I will share rather later) that is SO welcome 🙂

        December 16, 2017
  6. You made me laugh with your fake gun !! … Have a nice weekend, are you in Marcolès these days ?

    December 16, 2017
    • No I’m in Grenoble. I think I will be in Marcolès immediately after Christmas for a few days but there is no heating so I have to prepare myself mentally at this time of year!!!

      December 16, 2017
      • ok it is really an unfinished work in progress this house !! Have a nice and warm Sunday !!!

        December 16, 2017
      • It is indeed. But we WILL get there and judging by the response, I should probably turn the story into a book as well as the book I am writing about the year of buying it! I am lovely and warm in my apartment in Grenoble and I will share the interior before Christmas … its lovely! Happy weekend to you

        December 16, 2017
      • I must say also that your English is excellent that you understand the nuances of these pieces. They are not at all simple! Chapeau mon ami!

        December 16, 2017
      • Thank you mon amie, you are among several people who help me improve and not forget my Engligh !

        December 17, 2017
  7. Sit back have a cup of tea and enjoy your progress…I’m impressed!

    December 16, 2017
    • One step forwards, two steps back is the size of it!

      December 16, 2017
  8. One step? Surely ten!

    December 16, 2017
  9. Loved this post Osyth, fake guns and losing a dolls house 🙁 laughing and crying in the one post here! Xx

    December 17, 2017
    • My forgiveness on the Dolls House remains reluctant! So glad you enjoyed the post. One must always laugh, n’est-ce pas? Xx

      December 17, 2017
  10. I feel bad having to come back after reading the struggles with worms, bugs and rotten wood to comment here. I read your post as sad as I could be. The number of challenges has multiplied, many times.
Here standing over a landlord, manager or worker doesn’t work out faster either! Dismayed at the time taken, but Time is on our side, sometimes. You have every right to get “down” in so many aspects of your life but you dust yourself off and keep on going. I’m proud of you! 𓭤🌸

    December 18, 2017
    • Thank you – there speaks someone who understands the ups and downs and how the downs do sometimes permeate the spirit. I choose to dust myself off and not allow myself to wallow. At least here, safe in Grenoble my landlord seems decent – in Britain I had to move so many times because of landlords. Which meant my children too …. it’s so wrong! I know you understand that. Both countries should pull their socks up in making sure children can have the stability of a home to grow up in xx

You really “dodged a bullet” so to speak!

  12. NO matter whats trying to eat her…she is still a beauty….look at the rock and wood work….screams look at me, I am old but still have it…!!!

  13. I am in awe.

A small part of that is due to the fact that I just got a glimpse of myself in the bathroom mirror, and I am stunned that mortuaries have not been calling, inquiring on my status. But mostly I am vibrating with the joy of this post.

Naturally, you always entertain me vastly and, to be fair, some of your more humanistic posts exceed this one in their passion. But from a humor standpoint? I may have to consider this one of your best. (I have a team researching and comparing, and their report is due within the hour.) I had a twisted grin throughout your soliloquy, and there were innumerable times when I thought, “oh, that is so lovely, right there”.

I am so enamored. Let’s wrap it up there, lest I dissolve into schoolgirl crush and babble far beyond coherency…

    January 25, 2018
    • Hurrah! This has made me grin like the Cheshire Cat and I think I may never stop. You know what I feel about your writing and this was positioned as humour and it made the maestro laugh. Job done. I can now die happy 😊
